Syncytium
Persisted shared-state sessions and invariant-aware operations.

The runtime persists versioned shared sessions, applies supported CRDT operations, and evaluates coherence. It does not guarantee convergence across independently writing distributed replicas.

GenOS has persisted sessions and shared-state operations covered by the 49-suite Syncytium integration profile. The product contract remains partial because local tests do not establish universal distributed convergence or general worker correctness.

01 / PURPOSE

What it is for

Describe a shared-state architecture that distinguishes conditional convergence from application validity and coordination needs.

02 / SELECTION

When to use it

Use the wired session operations for bounded shared-state work when operation semantics and invariants are explicit. Do not assume distributed multi-writer convergence from the current runtime.

03 / SCIENTIFIC BASIS

Inspiration
and limits.

The target design draws on distributed-state and CRDT research. The biological analogy does not establish convergence or semantic consistency in software.

RUNTIME PATH

What is wired

Persisted topology sessions expose snapshots, CRDT operations, speculative branches, invariant and conflict inspection, history, and consistency evaluation.

KNOWN BOUNDARY

What this does not imply

Distributed multi-writer replication and convergence under concurrent updates remain incomplete; local session operations do not guarantee distributed consistency.

V3 · MISSION PROTOCOL

Shared-state qualification

The protocol must distinguish a persisted local session from independent writers. Record versions, admissible operations, merge assumptions, invariant results, conflicts and recovery receipts for each mission.

PROOF BOUNDARY

What remains to run

The documented CRDT conditions are conditional design properties. Concurrent distributed convergence and full mission outcomes have not been established by the local session tests.

01 / MODEL

The principle
and its equation

Syncytium is a partial shared-state runtime. GenOS persists sessions, applies supported CRDT operations, and evaluates coherence; distributed convergence across concurrent writers remains incomplete.

SIMPLIFIED FORMALIZATION

Sₜ₊₁ = merge(Sₜ, Δ₁, …, Δₙ) ; invariantⱼ(Sₜ₊₁) = true ∀j

This notation describes the convergence goal, not a guarantee of the current runtime. GenOS exposes persisted shared-state operations and coherence checks; distributed convergence still depends on data type, delivery, and merge assumptions.

02 / VARIANTS AND USE CASES

Choose a policy

Select a variant to explore steps based on its documented contract. This illustration does not run agents or call runtime services.

1/4 · Declare a strict invariant

The drawing changes with the topology and variant to show their documented structure and policy. It is an explanatory model; maturity labels and runtime limits still apply.

This status follows the maturity of the variant policy in GenOS’ canonical catalog. “Policy implemented” does not certify end-to-end execution: topology maturity, required adapters, permissions, and evidence remain separate runtime conditions. This illustration does not run agents; its selector is manual. In the runtime, mission signals may select a preset automatically when its preconditions are met.

FAILURE MODES

What can go wrong

  • Unsupported operations may diverge under concurrent writes.
  • A convergent merge can still violate a business invariant.
  • CRDT guarantees depend on data type and delivery assumptions; the current runtime does not guarantee distributed convergence.
EVIDENCE AND BENCHMARKS

What has been checked

Working slice: Causal replay, retry fingerprints, persistence rollback and committed-state validation are connected.

Still open: Local tests do not establish universal convergence, distributed consensus or general worker correctness.

Linked evidence: integration. A policy for a variant does not establish a successful end-to-end mission or comparative performance.
